Cello Lessons

Private cello lessons are available in Toronto and online.

My teaching philosophy is centred around an individual. Before we begin with lessons, it’s important to understand your current musical skills and your goals. Some of my students are working towards a music career, while others simply want to learn to play for their own pleasure.

I’ve worked with students ranging in age from 4 to 75, from beginners to advanced cellists.  Some of my students are just starting out, or are working to apply to a university program, while others are in university and studying to become soloists, orchestral members or cello teachers. Many of my adult students enjoy the opportunity to develop their skills in a structured and relaxed environment. My goal is to ensure that my students reach their fullest potential while experiencing the joy of learning the cello.

I tailor lessons and lesson times to each student. Lesson schedules (weekly, bi-weekly) will be determined based on goals and availability. Contact me for details regarding rates, schedules and teaching locations.

I teach primarily in Kingston, Ontario and Toronto Ontario, but have students across Ontario and am available for online lessons for children and adult learners. I also coach chamber music groups. I am currently accepting students at my Toronto studio:

Remenyi House of Music, 109 Vanderhoof Ave Suite 15, Toronto

Wolf's Cello
Congratulations to my past student Ronan Hendry, who won first prize at the 2024 Ontario Provincial Finals for Grade 9 cello!

“Our son studied cello with Wolf Tormann from the age of 4 to 12, and we are deeply grateful for the musical and technical foundation he provided.
Wolf has a remarkable ability to inspire young musicians with patience, warmth, and incredibly high standards, balancing technical excellence with a genuine love of music-making. Over eight years, he nurtured not only our son’s musicianship but also his confidence, discipline, and joy in learning the cello.
Under Wolf’s guidance, our son completed his Grade 9 RCM cello examination with First Class Honours with Distinction, earned many musical accolades including winning a Gold in the OMFA Provincial Festival Level 9 class, and competed in the ORMTA finals.
None of this would have been possible without Wolf. We wholeheartedly recommend Wolf to any family looking for an exceptional cello teacher.”
